OK, I must confess I’m a sports fanatic. Those that know me know I am a diehard Texas A&M Aggie fan. Last year, the Athletic Director hired Jimbo Fisher to be the next head coach. The one thing that stood out to me is his pursuit of perfection. He’s said many times, “do something until you get it right and then do it until you can’t do it wrong”. He’s also said “do the ordinary, extraordinary.”
So now you might ask what does that have to do with fitness, running or triathlon? Everything!
When you’re in the middle of a triathlon swim and you’re tired, your form goes out the window until you notice it and then you get refocused and your form comes back quickly. You need to do the drill (correctly) over and over and over so it becomes automatic. It’s paramount to your long turn success. The same thing with your run, you need to practice your form so when you’re feeling overreached your brain tells your body to get back in line.
So keep this in mind no matter your sport or business. Repeat the correct activity so many times that your brain will automatically tell you what to do when you’re tired and fatigued.
Next up, back to the basics…
